GL of Ohio's Themistocles Society


Last September, the Grand Lodge of Ohio F&AM created the Themistocles Society for the Preservation of Masonic Law and Ancient Landmarks, a statewide society specifically for Masonic attorneys.

According to the Society's website:

The Society’s Purpose is to to preserve, protect and promote Masonic Law, its charges, landmarks, traditions, history and ethics; to assist and support the charitable foundations and causes of the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Ohio; and to provide educational opportunities and related services to the Ohio Masonic Fraternity and its lodges.

Membership Is open to all Master Masons who are members of regularly constituted Lodges subordinate to the Grand Lodge of Ohio or subordinate to Grand Lodges with which the Grand Lodge of Ohio is in fraternal relations and are: attorneys-at-law in the State of Ohio, registered as such and in good standing, or who are retired as such; attorneys-at-law from adjacent states who are duly registered and are in good standing in their respective jurisdictions.


Quarterly meetings are planned, and there will also be local societies. as well, to be known as “Magistries”. Plans for the group include continuing legal education courses, lodge education programs, banquets and awards, charitable support, and "preserving, protecting and promoting Masonic Law and Ancient Landmarks through educational programs and materials."
