Still getting caught up from Masonic Week...
On Friday, February 8th, the Society of Blue Friars' Grand Abbot S. Brent Morris named Shawn Eyer as its newest Friar, number 102. Shawn is the editor of The Philalethes magazine.
The Society of Blue Friars was established in 1932 specifically to recognize Masonic authors. There are currently 24 living members.
Congratulations, Brother Shawn on this great honor!

Grand Abbot, S. Brent Morris, made an excellent choice.
ReplyDeleteI saw WBro. Shawn Eyer speak on August 27th, 2011, at the Semi-Annual Philalethes Society joint symposium with the Phylaxis Society. Brother Eyer is one of the best Masonic editors and educators in America.
Along with The Masonic Society Magazine, The Philalethes Society Magazine is one of the best Masonic periodicals for today's thoughtful Masons. You can experience Brother eyer's Masonic editorial talents by reading his book entitled, "Ahiman: A Review of Masonic Culture and Tradition, Volume 1." It is excellent and available on Amazon.
Congrats Bro. Shawn! Bro. Shawn has done such admirable work, and is a great boon for the Masonic Scholarship realm!
ReplyDeleteAhem, Friar Hodapp. A one-"t" Abbot leads a monastery or a group of Friars. A two-"t" Abbott is one-half of a comedy team. I'm confident that you will be effusively obsequious in your correction.
ReplyDeleteYours in the true blue,
S. Brent Morris, SBF
Grand Abbot
