  1. Please note that Trinity Commandery of Downers Grove Illinois will also join us. They will put on the Order of The Temple on a live Candidate at 9:30 am. Detroit Commandery will receive distinguished guest at 2 PM.Then Levant will take over. I would suggest that the Detroit Commandery office has the master list of guest and you can call them directly at 313-831-6952. We all look forward to this great day of Commandery's from 3 states working together along with a visit from our GM.

  2. It's good that Trinity Commandery is using a live candidates. Carrying around dead candidates is so tiresome, and it's dispiriting to give a lecture to a candidate who doesn't pay any attention to you.

  3. I have to wonder if any of these Brethren are also members of the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA)a medieval re-creation group.
There are several Brothers here in Southern California that are SCA members and often wear the white tabard and red cross patee at SCA events.
There has been talk of somehow starting an in-costume degree team here, but so far it's just talk.

  4. Only one of our original members was an SCA reenactor. The rest of us were looking for a way to get Templars active who were otherwise disinterested in drill teams and dull business meetings. By remaining a club within the Commandery we are able to draw on Sir Knights from all across the state without having to worry about holding business meetings or worry about seeking a charter.

Saturday's event was outstanding, with close to 200 knights in attendance. And it's hard to find a better venue than Detroit's asylum. Many thanks to everyone who helped to make it a most memorable weekend.
