Decoding "The Lost Symbol"

In the mania to swab up every morsel of information about Dan Brown's forthcoming "The Lost Symbol," readers everywhere are attempting to decipher every press release, cover art, and Twitter clue dribbled out by Brown's publisher.

Michael Schaub over at Bookslut.com has managed to crack the code behind the title itself. If you rearrange the letters in "The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown," you get "Horny Matt's Wobbly Blondes."

Meanwhile, while everyone was attempting to figure out the importance of the date of the release of the book, September 15, 2009, few thought to add up the numbers 9/15/09.

  1. He's not a great writer, but I did enjoy The Da Vinci Code, as it's a pretty good page turner. I'm looking forward to this one, if only for the chance to converse with non-Masons about it.

  2. Dan Brown's next novel can be very important to the world of Freemasonry, no matter what approach (negative or positive) he takes the fraternity in the pages of the book. I am of the opinion that the Lodges and Masons who view Freemasonry as something more than a social club or morality booster, who understand that--yes--Freemasonry does indeed have mystic roots that reach far into the past, these Freemasons will be the ones who will successfully exploit The Lost Symbol for the betterment of the Craft. The others will poo-poo it out of hand--no doubt without ever having read it.

  5. Time to speculate, so put on your tinfoil hats.

The first to jump out is that it is Br. William Howard Taft's Birthday. Not very spectacular or nefarious.

    But how about this one?

On Sept 15th Former President Br. Franklin Roosevelt met with Former Prime minster Winston Churchill at the Second Quebec Conference in Canada, Code Named "Octagon:. While two Brothers meeting is not so bad, if I were D. Brown I would play up their host was Former Prime Minster of Canada William Lyon Mackenzie King. Why was that important, he is the Great Grandson of William Lyon Mackenzie....first mayor of Toronto and a blackballed Masonic Candidate (http://www.accessmylibrary.com/coms2/summary_0286-35097678_ITM).

Could there have been bad blood?

And what was discussed at this conference? The Morgenthau Plan, a plan for the occupation of Germany after World War II that advocated measures intended to remove Germany's ability to wage war.

Who was Morgenthau? Former Secretary of State Henry Mrogenthau...Freemason, and along with Brothers Roosevelt and Henry Wallace, were instrumental in the design of the Seal on the Dollar Bill (according to conspiracy theorists).

Is this all a stretch? Well....it is Dan Brown we are talking about.
