Back in March, the assembled members of the Grand Lodge F&AM of Tennessee voted in favor of joint recognition with the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Tennessee. On Saturday, October 2nd, the Grand Masters of both jurisdictions — MW Charles W. Mixon of the GLofTN and MW L. Lamont Banks — will sign an official treaty of joint recognition at a public ceremony.
The open event will be held at the downtown Nashville Masonic Temple at 100 7th Avenue, beginning at 2PM.
Good.
ReplyDeleteThe remaining segregated grand lodges are anything but grand.
ReplyDeletebetter late then never, but is scandalously late...
ReplyDeleteWe are all Brothers and I for one think we should all be in full communication. I am from South Carolina.
ReplyDeleteIs this full fraternal relations or just recognition with no inter-lodge visitation?
ReplyDeleteYou need to check with the two grand lodges there - although if you attend the treaty signing, I suspect that decision and any restrictions will be mentioned during the event. It has generally been the case in the past that the Prince Hall grand lodges haven't allowed joint visitation immediately. At least one I know of placed a ten year moratorium on visitations from the mainstream Masons when recognition was first announced, but dropped that restriction after a year or so.
DeleteThis is great news. Does this agreement allow inter-lodge visitation?
ReplyDeleteBrother Hodapp, Do we know if this was signed earlier this week, haven't seen any release about it since August surround states are curious?
ReplyDeleteI was present at the treaty signing but there was no explanation of what "recognition" actually consists of. Although we may not visit each other, to what extent can we communicate?
ReplyDeleteTo what extent may Tennessee "Mainstream" and PHA members communicate?
ReplyDeleteUsually recognizing the Grand Lodge in another state or country brings with it the right to fully communicate.
