From my friend Piers Vaughan in New York:
CBS Sunday Morning to air segment on Freemasonry this Sunday (December .
CBS have just confirmed that, barring major breaking news, the story on Freemasonry by Mo Rocca will be aired this Sunday between 9:00-10:30am EST. This was put together a few months ago, and will feature members of the Grand Lodge of New York, the House of the Temple and other contributors. The intention was to present a fair and accurate view of Freemasonry, rather than the 'shock horror' interpretations aired in recent years.
Fingers crossed.
UPDATE: See the segment here.

Very Nice. Mo Rocca is a very interesting choice, but I'm sure it won't be dull at all.
ReplyDeleteIt will be refreshing to see an unbiased media review of our gentle Craft! The uninformed sensationalism that normally passes for journalism where Freemasonry is concerned has gotten rather old!
ReplyDeleteMedia and unbiased in the same sentence...how naive.
DeleteMo Rocca did a wonderful piece for CBS Sunday Morning back in January 2013 regarding WBro. George Washington's inauguration and the keeper of the Bible, St. John's No. 1. It will be nice to see what is to come of this new segment.
ReplyDeleteCan someone record this and post it, I would love to hear this, but will be on the road all day Sunday.
ReplyDeleteWith Nelson Mandela's death just now, this segment may be put back for a while. I'll be interested to see it if they run it in a way that Brits can see it.

Very good segment. A mix of history, and some light humor. It was also nice to see young Masons represented as well.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone have a link to segment that Mo Rocca did?
ReplyDeleteReally well done!

Chris has, thankfully, provided a link that leads to a text version of the television segment. (It, in turn, links to an article titled "9 things you didn't know about Freemasonry" which is also worth a look.)
ReplyDeleteThe video itself can be found on the CBS site, but I could not get it to play. Fortunately it is also posted on Youtube at:

Although only 8 minutes long, it is certainly among the best of those produced by non-masons.

I highly recommend the Scottish Key. I think it is one of the best documentaries out there. http://www.lewismasonic.co.uk/dvds-and-cds/the-scottish-key.htm
