From Temples to Condos
Last week, the Wall Street Journal featured a depressing article about the increasingly common story of Masonic temples being turned into condominiums. Read it here.

Your comments will not appear immediately because I am forced to laboriously screen every post. I'm constantly bombarded with spam. Depending on the comments being made, anonymous postings on Masonic topics may be regarded with the same status as cowans and eavesdroppers, as far as I am concerned. If you post with an unknown or anonymous account, do not automatically expect to see your comment appear.
I know you said "depressing," but here's my take on it:
ReplyDeleteBack in the 1980s, a number of old, historic factory mills in New England were about to be torn down, when some developer had the idea to gut the insides and turn them into, yes, condos. The building exteriors were cleaned up, and the stairwells, etc., inside were modernized, while keeping the same historic look to them.
We have a lot of older Masonic temples around the US that the members simply can no longer support. Turning them into condos is a more fitting turn than to tear them down and replace them with mini-malls, in my opinion.
