I am thrilled to see that something is being done to commemorate Brother Daniel Tompkins. He was a fantastic Brother and a bit of a tragic figure. It is a shame that more American, New Yorkers and New York Masons are totally unaware of his contributions to the Untied States, New York and the craft.
ReplyDeleteA couple of years ago I tried putting a bit of pressure on my Valley here in NYC to do something about the state of disrepair of his final resting place in St.Mark’s Churchyard. NY Valley teamed up with the Daughters of the War of 1812 and placed a plaque commemorating his efforts towards the war. Although it was fantastic, there is nothing to commemorate his role in the Northern Jurisdiction or his time in the Grand Lodge of New York on his grave.
