“Medical bills cost a lot and we just want to do what we can to help this family out,” said Past Master Jimmy McMillon of St. David’s Lodge No. 467 of Cheraw. “It takes a lot of money to go back and forth to doctor’s appointments and hopefully we can bring some kind of financial relief.”
McMillon says that being a part of the community is what the Masonic Lodges strives to do.
“We just try to help out wherever we can,” McMillon said. “We don’t seek fame or anything by what we do. Our goal is to provide any kind of relief, whether it’s financial or anything else we can.”

South Carolina PHA Lodges Help Local Cancer Patient
A good friend and brother has long maintained that all Freemasonry is local. This story certainly illustrates that contention. The brethren of the Prince Hall lodges in Chesterfield County, South Carolina pulled together this past week and held a fund raising "plate sale" to help a local resident suffering from cancer. A story in today's Cheraw Chronicle reports that Sanctorium Lodge #25, St. David’s Lodge #467, and Davis Temple Lodge No. 481 donated proceeds from a joint event to defray medical bills.

Stories like this truly make my heart smile. I want to congratulate the brethren of Sanctorium #25, St. David’s #467, and Davis Temple #481 for doing this kind of charitable giving. More Lodges should be involved in this kind of work, both local and focused.
